Final result of my forecast

My forecast of the Fall 2010 Ready-To-Wear Collection

I think in the Fall 2010 Ready to wear collection, Karl Lagerfeld will still use achromatic color as the main color scheme of the collection. It is a tradition of Chanel, and I think this tradition will be kept in the coming season. However, I think Karl Lagerfeld will use more black color among the three achromatic colors. It is because I have noticed that in Karl Lagerfeld's recent design, for example, Karl Lagerfeld collection and Fendi collection, he tended to use lots of black in the collection. So, I forecast that he will use nearly 70% of Black in the coming collection.

Moreover, as we can see in the Fall 2005 RTW and S/S 2009 RTW collection, Karl Lagerfeld had tried to use different shades of grey. However, I think in the coming fall collection, grey will not occupy to much in the collection. It is because I think Karl Lagerfeld will try to put more effort of Black. It may be inspired by his own favour, Chanel's tradition - the little black dress, which I have mentioned in the previous entry.
In the coming fall collection, I think Karl Lagerfeld will still use pink for the Chanel's classic suit. As I discovered that Pink was used in the previous two fall RTW collection.

Besides achromatic color, pink is also a Chanel tradition. It present feminity, elegant and cute. Karl Lagerfeld like to use Pink, it is not hard to find Pink in his previous collection, not only fall collection, but also spring and summer collection, not only ready to wear collection, but also haute couture. I forecast that Karl Lagerfeld will use low value and high chroma in the coming collection.
Finally, I forecast Karl Lagerfeld will try to use green, blue and blueviolet in the coming fall collection. Three colors will be in low chroma and low value. It is because these three colors had appeared in the previous collection not only once. Also, for the fall collection, Karl Lagerfeld always tried to use the shade of hue, that means the color is not shiny vivid, which is in dull shade.

IDEAS OF KARL LAGERFELD

1.Futurism

The ever-onward Karl Lagerfeld is not inclined to the backward glance. So in a season when everyone else is doing their version of the 1980's, a decade he helped define, it made perfect sense that he was focused on the 2080's—or, OK, at least the future.

2. Music

The metal-machine music of Metronomy introduced a collection whose thrust was technology and architecture. The models wore fur helmets with inset iPods (cushioning against the crash?), and Lagerfeld referred to the built-out shoulder that defined the silhouette as "the bridge."

From style.com - Report of Karl Lagerfeld Fall 09 Collection

Also, In Chanel 08 S/S RTW collection, Karl Lagerfeld also used guitar as a accessories.
So, we can know that the idea of the Karl Lagerfeld design is mutually related, including Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld collection and Fendi.

3. Black

Here's the Karl Lagerfeld Fall 2009 collection

Their clothes, mostly dark, were cut with narrow flying panels, oddly textured with what looked at a glance like worn-through or dust-spattered fabrics and frayed edges.

From style.com - Report of Fendi Fall 09 RTW Collection

Also, in Chanel Fall 09 RTW collection, Karl Lagerfeld also used lots of black.
The common factor of these 3 fall 2009 collection is the majority of the outfits is in black color.

4. Vintage

Vintage style seems will be a hit in next season. It once appeared in Fall 2003 Ready-to-wear collection. In the 2009 S/S collection, Karl Lagerfeld picked a guitar as accessories. However, the guitar is not a metal and rock one, that is for the folk song. So, I think natural vintage may becme one of the idea for next season.

2005 F/W Ready-To-Wear - Analysis

2005
Fall in Winter
Ready-To-Wear Collection

There were 58 ladies outfits in Fall 2005 collection

Here's the color family of the collection.
As you can see, in this collection, Karl Lagerfeld hadn't use any high chroma color in the collection. And also Karl Lagerfeld used many shades of grey. Grey has no chroma.

Analysis

1. Ratio of color used
In this collection, Karl Lagerfeld used lots of black again. There was 49% of the outfits used black as the main color theme. In the previous analysis, White color always occupied the second large ratio in all outfits. However, this time, White color was just used as main color theme for 4 times only. So, what was the second large ratio in all ladies outfit? The answer was Grey color. There was 29% of the outfits used grey as the main color theme.

Here's some black outfit shots.

2. Pink, lightkhaki and blueviolet were added.
This time, apart from achromatic color, Karl Lagerfeld picked three special colors in the collection, they are pink, lightkhaki and blueviolet.

It is not surprising that Karl Lagerfeld picked pink in the collection.
Pink is also appeared in some collection, like Fall 09 RTW and 08 S/S RTW.

But, it rarely to see these two colors - Lightkhaki and Blueviolet.

3. Various shades of grey were used.
As we see the pie chart in the above picture, grey color occupied a quite large ration among all ladies outfit. I have made some classification of various shades of grey.

A. Grey in low value

B. Grey in high value.

The below 2 outfits were also in grey color and use chiffon as the material.
What is the different between this 2 outfits?
I think the this shade of grey give me more aggressive and warm feeling.

When compared with 2 pictures, I think this shade of grey present a receding feeling and make people feel more cool.

Moreover, I think the uses of grey color is similar to the 09 S/S RTW collection.
In 09 S/S RTW collection, Karl Lagerfeld was also used many shades of grey in the collection.

4. Use of camellia pattern

As you can see, the pattern of camellia not only used in the clothes, but also used in the leggings.

2005 F/W Ready-To-Wear

2005
Fall Winter
Ready-To-Wear Collection

At his third show in as many weeks, Karl Lagerfeld showed not a trace of fatigue during the Chanel show, either in his physical appearance or with the enormous collection he presented.
With characteristic genius, he offered Penelope Tree-style mini dresses, casually cool sportswear that was as good for boys as it was for girls and a taste of the English countryside with tweed plus fours inspired by the ones Coco herself used to wear in the days of her liaison with the Duke of Westminster.

The stunning femininity with which Lagerfeld flips out pretty cocktail dresses and piled-up tweed skirt suits time after time leaves no doubt as to his lofty position in the world's fashion hierarchy. Want to look the Chanel part next season? Just make sure you carry an original quilted, chain-handled bag (reinvented, vintage-style and strung around boys' shoulders), and wear a bow at the outside of your knee on cropped trousers or at your waist. Perfectly cool and typically pretty.

I love her color matching, it's really girlish and sharp!
However, in Hong Kong, you may just find this color matching during Luner New Year.

2003 F/W Ready-To-Wear - Analysis

2003
Fall Winter
Ready-To-Wear

In this year, there were totally 85 ladies outfuts.

The color family

Analysis

1. Analogic Color scheme was used.
In Fall 2003 RTW collection, Karl Lagerfeld used various hue, like green, darkblue and magenta and also the black and white.
For green, darkblue and magenta, they formed an analogic color scheme as they are located at the color wheel at 30 degree either side. Green and Blue were in low chroma and high value. However, for magenta, which was in high chroma and high value.

2. floral print and pattern
Besides checked and stripes pattern, it is my first time to discover Chanel"s floral print.
I think the floral print is similar to the 60's pattern.

3. The ratio of black and white
In the 85 outfits, Black appeared 39 times and White appeared 27 times.
It is not surprising that Karl Lagerfeld always used more black color in the Fall Winter collection.
