Analysis

1. Triad Color Scheme can be found in the collection.
These 3 outfits are quite similar, some black lines are used for decoration, or maybe for emphasing the body shape. 3 of them are in triad color - beige, olivedrab, midnightblue.

Beige – low chroma and value of orange
Olivedrab – low chroma and value of green
Midnight blue – low chroma and value of blue.



2. Principle of Familiarity can be found
The principle of familiarity is based on the concept that familiarity is pleasing and readily accepted. As a result, color schemes based on nature will seem pleasing to most people.
The uses of color in the 2008 FW collection are based on nature, and pleasing feeling is also presented in the collection.




3. Still using lots of BLACK in the winter collection
Karl Lagerfeld use lots of black color to design the Chanel winter collection.I’ve made a rough pie chart to analysis the percentage of color used in the 53 ladies’ outfits.
As you can see below, 74% of black color was used, following is grey and white. Again, these 3 colors are the combination of achromatic color scheme, and also it is also a signature of Chanel.
